How We Started
It was May 1st, 2015 when a few men and women came together to establish a great humanitarian project to help the most needy communities in Somalia. One thing each of the founders had had in mind was to lend a hand to the neediest communities in Somalia. Each of the founders knew that this project wouldn't only help to alleviate the humanitarian crises in Somalia, but it would also make the world a better place to live. Based on this belief, Helplife Foundation came into existence officially on May 7th 2015, and opened its first office in Minneapolis city, USA.
Across Somalia, unpredictable rainfall patterns, ongoing conflict, and lack of maintenance of water sources and supply systems has resulted in only 45 percent of the population having access to improved water sources and only a quarter of the population with improved sanitation facilities within 10 metres UNICEF (2015). Based on the fact that the majority of the Somali population doesn't have access to clean water, Helplife Foundation's vision is to bring clean water into Somalia and make Somalia a place where everyone can have access to safe water.
· Our main mission is to drill new water wells, maintain the existing ones and educate locals about water management.
· There are other programs which we provide to poor rural communities in Somalia, and these programs are included in the following humanitarian assistance programs:
· Education: We help many rural schools financially, so teachers can get paid and students can continue their studies.
· Relief Programs: this program delivers food, and shelter to the drought-stricken communities in Somalia.
