Education

Educating Rural Communities

After more than two decades of conflict, a generation of Somali children lost the opportunity of formal education and other benefits of a stable childhood. Somalia has one of the world’s lowest enrollment rates for primary school-aged children – only 30 percent of children are in school and only 40 percent of these are girls. Further, only 18 percent of children in rural households are in school.

In order to respond to Somalia's extreme need of education, Helplife Foundation took many steps to support rural schools. And currently, we provide  financial support to a few schools located in rural areas of Sanaag region. Our support is vital to these schools, because without it, teachers don't not get paid, and students will not be able to continue their studies.
